TeleSeminars FAQ |
What is a teleseminar?
It's simply a seminar that takes place over the telephone. We have found that
this is a convenient and cost-effective way for people throughout the country
to take one of our seminars. You don't have to travel anywhere, or pay to
attend a conference. You simply call into a long-distance telephone number to
participate. In effect, it is a giant conference call.
How does this
all work?
Fun Facts Publishing rents what's called a "bridge
line" - basically a teleconference line, allowing a designated amount of people
(usually 20-50) to call in simultaneously, without an operator assisting.
You'll call a designated number (which you receive a few days before the
teleseminar).
How do I register?
Once you've found a teleseminar you'd like to attend, simply click the link that
says "Click here to reserve your spot!" This will take you to our secure online
shopping cart, where you can pay with your MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or
American Express.
You can also pay with PayPal, or by check. If you don't feel comfortable
ordering online, call us at 212-604-4562 to reserve your spot.
After you register, you will receive confirmation by e-mail, including the long
distance telephone number you will call in order to participate in the seminar.
We also will send you a list of guidelines about how to get the most out of the
teleseminar.
How much does it cost?
Fun Facts Publishing charges a fee for each teleseminar, as listed under each
teleseminar name. Also, you will have to pay for the long-distance call as you
would any other long distance call from your home. (We don't make any money
whatsoever on the long distance call.)
Will there be a handout for the teleseminar?
Not all Fun Facts Publishing teleseminars have a handout. If there is one, this
will be included in the e-mail, or you will be given a special website address
to download the handout.
Where do I call?
When you sign up for the teleseminar, you will receive an e-mail giving you the
long distance telephone number to call in order to participate.
Please make sure the room you are in for the
call is as quiet as possible. Background noise makes it very difficult for
everyone to hear the call.
Please also use a land line, NOT a cell phone. Cell phones often experience poor
transmission, and if you get cut off, re-entering the call is distracting to
everyone else. (Cordless phones are ok, if they're well charged, and don't have
a lot of interference, but a corded phone is the best.)
Please try to call in 60 seconds BEFORE the
class is due to start, to ensure that you are there on time, so we can begin
promptly.
What if I am a little late calling in?
If you dial in late, you can still participate. Also, for certain seminars,
we'll be creating a cassette tape and CD. Information on how to purchase these
will be available soon.
Is this just a lecture, or can I ask questions?
Some of our seminars are lecture-style, and some are hands-on tutorials for
learning software. We will take questions at regular intervals during the
session, as well as during the final 5-10 minutes of the session.
Do I have to know how to use a computer?
Most of our teleseminars are NOT conducted via the Internet or a computer. All
you will need is your telephone. The exception, of course, are our software
tutorials, in which you will need a computer to participate.
Can I talk to other participants during the call?
We want to focus everybody on the information. Even if there are other people
you know on the call, please refrain from speaking to them.
The bridge line we are using allows us to mute
everyone except the presenter, which we do except during the Q & A period. We
also encourage everyone to mute their own phone unless they are asking a
question. The less interfering sound on the line, the better everyone can hear.
I have call waiting. What if I get a call during the
teleseminar?
If you have "call waiting," please disable it before calling in. Check with your
phone provider for directions on disabling "call waiting."
I'd like to attend but I
have another commitment. Will you offer cassette tapes or CD copies of the
teleseminars?
If you are unable to participate in the live
seminar but it's a subject you want to learn about, you will be able to purchase
a recording of some of our seminars. More information on this is coming soon.
If you are recording my voice, will I receive any
compensation?
When you register for the teleseminar, you are giving Fun Facts Publishing permission to record your
comments, without any financial compensation or remuneration to you.
What if I want to cancel my participation?
You can cancel up to 72 hours in advance and receive a full refund. This gives
somebody on the waiting list a chance to participate. After 72 hours, we cannot
return the teleseminar fee.
Can I audiotape a Teleseminar I am on?
Unfortunately, no. The seminar's contents are protected by intellectual property
rights; and also, it is illegal to audiotape a conversation without the
participants' consent and we cannot ask our customers to consent to that.
However, if you are going to miss a session, you may have a friend, colleague or
family member listen in silently and take notes for you.
What can I do and not do with the concepts from a
class?
The content and discussions of the TeleSeminars are for your own direct use
only and cannot be repackaged or shared or resold without a licensing agreement.
Intellectual property rights are vigorously protected.
