Whether you are a glass-is-half-empty person ("Aw, the summer's practically OVER!") or a glass-is-half-full person ("Yay! I still have a whole month left of summer!"), there's no denying that the Back To School season is right around the chalkboard. And what better excuse to begin a manic marketing campaign! Here are some ways to get started:

Retail and Online Stores
Group school products together, along with layout samples. Include both local and "standard" school colors as part of your featured product line.
Package together "kits," or offer a "Buy 4 B2S products, get your 5th for free."

Teachers
Offer special B2S classes for people of ALL ages. Have one just for students, one for adults scrapping their school years, and classes on specific school times: elementary, prom, graduation, etc.

Custom Scrapbook Artists
Have a B2S "sale." Provide a "discount" to those who would like an album of their own school years, or the school years of their child. Put out the word through bulletin boards, direct mail, your LSS, and your Web site.
Create pre-made B2S and ABC albums and sell them at local fairs and school functions.
Offer a year-long, ongoing service to parents. Sell it as: "Preserve Your Child's ?th Grade Year!" Have the client provide you with school-type photos periodically throughout the school year, design the pages, and return them to the client. Keep up the process until next June - by which time you'll have made some hefty profits! (Especially if the parent is an avid photo-taker.)

Everyone
Send news releases/media kits to local and national media. If you are having an event that is "visual," contact your local television news stations as well.
Let your mailing list or direct mail list know about your special by creating apple-shaped notecards.
Contact your local schools and offer to teach a class on creating a "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" scrapbook.
Contact your local schools and see if you can distribute flyers in the teacher's lounge, or send flyers home with each child.
If you live in or near a college town, put out flyers and/or take out an ad in the campus newspaper welcoming back students and offering your services. Make sure you offer "school colors" in your product selection.
Donate something to your local schools. Many office supplies superstores have great sales right now. Why not pick up a case of pens or notebooks and donate them? Even if your contact info isn't included, it's the Karma that will come back to help you!
