Following Your Light
in January

My friend has a theory about the whole January = New Beginning thing. Of course it's the beginning of a new year, she explains, but it's also the month when the days begin to get longer, and the darkness shorter. It's when we receive more light, and therefore more energy, inspiration, and motivation.

Looking at January in this way gives a whole new meaning to New Year's Resolutions. I mean, don't you always kind of dread the weight of New Year's Resolutions? You make the ones you think you're "supposed" to make, because you know, it's the new year, and everybody does it, and you really should do something. But why do we never follow through? Because we feel we're forced to make them - there's nothing fun and exciting, nothing to look forward to!

Seeing January as a source of light is also a source of inspiration. The light is beginning to grow slowly - just as your goals may grow slowly. There is extra daytime, which leads to extra energy, which leads to more ideas of how to grow and better your business, as well as yourself as a person.

This January, instead of making half-hearted resolutions that deep down you know you'll never keep, think of the light. What is your light? Is it attracting more customers? if so, how will you do it? Is it developing better relationships with your customers? if so, how will you do it? Is it realizing what's really important to you, whether it's your family, your business, volunteering, or anything else, and vowing to devote more time to it? If so, how will you do it?

Everyone's light is different - and January is the perfect time to find and develop it. I wish you all the best of success  - it's going to be a fantastic year!!
